Grallator sp., footprint plaque negative
Early Jurassic, eastern North America

The early evolution and diversification of dinosaurs is poorly understood because of the fragmentary record of bones and skeletons.  However, the great diversity of footprints from this time period shows that there are many dinosaurs we don’t know about.  Grallator is a common dinosaur track from the early Jurassic and was made by a predatory dinosaur.  In this sculpted replica, based on specimens in the scientific literature, the track is rendered as a depression known as a negative.

This fossil cast comes with an informative label.
