Allosaurus fragilis, caudal tail vertebra.        

Late Jurassic, western North America.

A replica of a complete vertebra from near the middle of the tail showing the morphology typical of this carnivorous dinosaur.  The long projections at the front and back connected it to the other vertebrae in the tail and also served for the attachment of muscles which moved the tail. An esthetically pleasing piece of natural art.

This fossil cast comes with an informative card.
